PART NINE
Grinding
After cleaning up, Keisha took a pack of pork chops out the freezer to thaw out for dinner, then she took her daily nap to prepare herself for the long night that
waited ahead. Later on that night Keisha and Cameron enjoyed their dinner while watching a movie. After dinner Keisha dozed off into Cameron arms and was awakened by him nipping on her ears and telling her how much he loved her. After glancing at the time, Keisha jumped up out of Cameron's hold, she was missing money; it was time to get her hustle on. After going into her room to jump into her street gear, Cameron started with her once again.
“Come on now cuz, not tonight, it's damn near midnight,”
he said, blocking her entrance out the bedroom door. “Cameron, I'm fully aware of the time, I have to get to
work and I ain't tryna go there tonight again, a‟ight,” she said
as she wrapped her scarf around her neck to prepare to leave. “Well, when is it ever a good time then Keisha? Huh! I'm
getting tired of the shit; you in the streets more than a nigga is,
and I know you ain't that hard up for no money cuz. What you
got you a lil‟ nigga on the side, you fucking around on me or
something girl?” Cameron said, tired of having to go to bed
alone at night, or wake up not able to find his girl, because she
was out running the streets claiming to be making money. Keisha thought, just because she fucked and fed Cameron
every night, it was never made official that they were a couple,
and now here he was accusing her of messing around on him.
If Lil Boo wasn't right about one thing, he was surely right
about relationships being over rated and complicated. At first
Cameron was just happy being around her, and now he was on
her like a fly on shit.
“Cam, I mean, you my baby and all, my boo,” she said
with the upmost truth and sincerity that was in her, “But
whoever said we were a couple baby?” she said looking deep
in his eyes.
“Oh, so it's like that? We all like this, but we ain't together
Kesh?” Cameron replied, aggressively throwing his hands up
in the air, looking and feeling hurt by Keisha‟s response to
their relationship. He thought the world of what they shared, it
was natural and to him it was the highest magnitude of what
real love was supposed to be.
“No Cam,” Keisha said, grabbing his arms to gain his
attention. “I mean yeah; we are all like that, and I love it, I
love you! But I thought we were supposed to be taking this
one day at a time baby, remember no rushing?” Keisha hoped
she hadn't hurt Cameron's feelings too deeply or blown her
chances with him. She didn't want to lose him because she was
honestly falling in love with him. She just wanted things to be
right between them and she wanted to get Lil Boo completely
out of her system, before she was willing to make a faithful
commitment to him. The last thing that Keisha wanted to do
was hurt Cameron, it wasn‟t even an option.
